The Robert E. Howard Museum in Cross Plains, Texas—the humble home where the creator of Conan the Barbarian, Bran Mak Morn, and Solomon Kane dreamed his immortal worlds into being—is in need of our help. More than a museum, it’s the birthplace of modern heroic fantasy and the beating heart of sword-and-sorcery itself.

For me, Robert E. Howard was one of the great shaping forces of my imagination. Alongside the artwork of Frank Frazetta, his stories fired my adolescent mind as much as the Matter of Britain, the Matter of France, and the ancient myths of Greece and Rome. His heroes were larger than life yet deeply human—fierce, fatalistic, and alive with the tragic poetry of struggle.

If Howard’s work ever stirred something in you—if his tales of courage and doom helped you see the world a little differently—please consider supporting the preservation of his legacy. The house still stands in Cross Plains, but it needs champions of its own now.

Help Fund the New Statue of the Madonna della Fontana

A new GoFundMe campaign was recently launched by the Società Madonna Della Fontana and Spilingese Social Club in Newark, New Jersey to help raise money for the creation of a new processional statue of the Madonna della Fontana. Devotees will carry the statue during the Annual Feast of the Madonna della Fontana and San Michele Arcangelo, celebrated on the third Sunday in May, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in the Ironbound Section of Newark.

The new statue will be handcrafted in Lindenwood by Ferdinand Stufflesser artisans from Ortisei, Bolzano. It will be scaled to the exact measurements of the original statue in Spilinga, Calabria and is scheduled to be completed before the feast day on May 21, 2023.

Funds that exceed the goal ($15,000) will be put toward crowns from Serpone, Naples

The Mission of the Calendar

The 2022 calendar of the town of Ripabottoni, as conceived by Parish priest Don Gabriele Tamilia, contains rather beautiful pictures which distinguish each month of the year, unique iconic images which recount the history and architecture of the small Molise town. 

The purpose of the Calendar, is to raise funds for the restoration of the extremely valuable canvas painting of “Saint Rocco," patron saint of the town, which was created by local artist Paolo Gamba.

The Eighteenth century canvas is very deteriorated, has never been restored over time, and risks becoming irremediably lost.

The town Parish priest Don Gabriele Tamilia seeks through this Calendar to make the faithful aware of this problem and to save the altarpiece both from the artistic and religious point of view, as it represents the religious identity of all the Ripese. 

Tax deductible charitable donations of 10 Euros per calendar may be made to the Parish. All those interested in art history and devotees of Saint Rocco are kindly asked to support this initiative. For further information in the Americas please contact Il Regno or Cav. Charles Sant’Elia.

• January – The Parish Church of Santa Maria Assunta, a national monument, and eighteenth century building designed by the Neapolitan architect Ferdinando Sanfelice with the stone coat of arms of the Francone family, the feudatories of the town from the 17th to 19th centuries. 

• February - A partial view of the town immersed in nature.

• March - Particulars of stonework in the town.

• April - The fountain and an elderly woman bearing an antique copper basin on her head.

• May - The Palace of Prince Francone and an eighteenth century fountain.

• June - The main Square or Piazza of the town.

• July - A vintage photo of women at the fountain.

• August - The canvas depicting Saint Rocco, Patron of Ripabottoni, an Eighteenth century work by the Ripese painter Paolo Gamba, a disciple of the noted Neapolitan artist Solimena.

• September - “The fall of the rebellious Angels," a work by Solimena and a “Saint Matthew” by Paolo Gamba.

• October – A vintage picture of the town and its inhabitants.

• November - Monument to the Emigrants.

Il calendario 2022 del borgo di Ripabottoni, ideato dal parroco Don Gabriele Tamilia, è caratterizzato da bellissime immagini che distinguono ogni mese dell’anno, iconografie uniche che raccontano la storia e l’architettura del piccolo paese molisano.

La Settecentesca tela è molto deteriorata, non è stata mai restaurata nel corso del tempo, rischia di andare irrimediabilmente perduta.

Dear Confratelli and Consorelle, Friends and Supporters,

First and foremost, I pray that all of you, and your loved ones, are safe and well.

During these difficult times for the United States, Italy and the world, it is important that we remember our calling as Knights and Dames of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George is to serve those in need to the best of our abilities. Every nation, and surely every family, is dealing with this crisis every day, and Italy, the home of our Most Sacred Order for centuries, has suffered immensely.

To that end, our Grand Master, HRH Prince Carlo of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, has called on the Knights and Dames of the Constantinian Order around the world, and our friends and families, to help gather support for Italy’s hospitals and those working on the front lines in this global health emergency.

Many great efforts, and worthy fundraisers, have already been launched to support Italy’s most affected hospitals, but we are concerned about institutions and areas where the spread of this epidemic and a lack of intensive care equipment might have even more dramatic consequences, particularly in the South of Italy and Sicily, the spiritual homeland of our Constantinian Order.

Therefore, the Constantinian Order Charity Onlus, our Italian charitable arm, has launched fundraising initiative in which donations will be distributed equally among those under-supported hospitals so in need of additional equipment and intensive care capacity.

The Order's Headquarters in Rome, Italy has contributed a “Leadership Gift” of 50.000 euros to launch this initiative, and has called on Delegations like ours, around the world, to initiate their own efforts to help grow this important source of critical aid.

I am personally asking that those of you who can consider making a donation of ANY amount to this cause, and of equal importance, help us to spread the word through emails, social media postings, and any means by which you might engage a wider circle in our work.

Please consider making even a donation of even a few dollars, not only to help us raise as much as possible, but to send a message of solidarity from our American Delegation to our Confratelli and Consorelle leading this valuable initiative in Italy. Distributing Alms to the Homeless on the Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas

The Shrine Church of the Holy Innocents,
a bastion of traditional Catholicism

In a concerted effort to increase our corporal works of mercy, the Fratteli della Santa Fede (Brothers of the Holy Faith), in conjunction with the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George and the St. Rocco Society of Potenza in New York City, have launched a new homeless food walk at the Shrine Church of the Holy Innocents (128 W 37th St.) in Midtown Manhattan. Scheduled to take place every first Saturday of the month, volunteers will gather in the parish hall (after the 1PM Tridentine Latin Mass and Devotions to the Immaculate Heart of Mary) and prepare food to be distributed to the needy around the church.

With generous support from friends and parishioners, this past Saturday, on the Feast Day of St. Thomas Aquinas, volunteers filled some twenty care packages replete with ready-to-eat food (sandwiches, fruit, etc.), toiletries (deodorant, mouthwash, etc.) and winter clothing (hats, scarves, etc.). Packed and raring to go, we prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for good measure, then grabbed our bags and traversed the teeming Garment District to hand out the alms.

I heartily thank everyone who contributed, your much-needed generosity is greatly appreciated. Special thanks to our Pastor Fr. James Miara for your support and blessings. It is an honor to serve with such an outstanding group of people. God bless you all.

A Glorious Ending to the Christmas Season

The Christmas season officially came to an end Sunday on the Feast of Candlemas. The forty faith-filled days, replete with feasts and devotions, concluded over the weekend at the Shrine Church of the Holy Innocents (128 West 37th St.) in Manhattan with a Votive Low Mass of the Immaculate Heart of Mary with Commemoration of St. Ignatius on Saturday and the Anniversary of the Dedication of Holy Innocents Church on Sunday.

Saturday, February 1st — Saturday afternoon the Fratelli della Santa Fede (Brothers of the Holy Faith) gathered at Holy Innocents Church for our First Saturday Devotion. Offering confession in reparation to Our Lady before Mass, we said our penance as well as our daily prayers of thanks and praise. Since it was also the Feast of San Trifone Martire, we lit candles and included the great saint in our supplications. Our Pastor Fr. James Miara celebrated the Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

In addition to Confession and Holy Communion, the faithful prayed the Holy Rosary, the Fatima Prayers (e.g. the Sacrifice Prayer), and the Litany and the Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We also meditated for a quarter of an hour on the mysteries of the Holy Rosary, as prescribed by Our Lady to Sister Lúcia of Fátima in an apparition at Ponteverda, Spain in 1925.

Afterward, we officially launched our new homeless walk from Holy Innocents Hall. Starting small, we prepared and bagged twenty-two sandwiches and clementines, with some winter hats and gloves. Even though it was cold and drizzling outside, we had no trouble finding a couple of shanties erected under scaffolding. If all goes according to plan, the walk will continue to take place every First Saturday.

Sunday, February 2nd — Sunday morning the Sanfedisti returned to Holy Innocents for both the 9:00 am Tridentine Low Mass and the 10:30 am Tridentine High Mass for the Anniversary of the Dedication of Holy Innocents Church, which took the place of the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Fr. Miara was the celebrant at both.

Between the Masses, Father performed the blessing of the candles in the sanctuary and the nave. Sprinkling them with holy water three times while reciting the Asperges, he then incensed the candles. The solemn rite concluded with a candlelight procession around the packed church while the choir sung the Antiphons.

After incensing the congregation during Mass, the thurifer and acolyte circled the nave and incensed the Stations of the Cross.

Because it was the Anniversary of the Dedication of the Church, a plenary indulgence was granted to everyone in a state of grace who said the Credo and Pater Noster, in addition to meeting the other conditions (Confession, Communion, praying for the intentions of the Holy Father, etc.). Archbishop Corrigan consecrated the church in 1901.

Following Mass, there was the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance and Eucharistic Adoration. Ending with the Benediction and Reposition in the church tabernacle, the faithful venerated the statue of the infant Jesus at the Altar Rail, just as we did forty days ago at Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. Distributing Food to the Homeless on the Feast of St. Norbert of Xanten

Thank you to this month's volunteers.

Thursday, June 6th, members of the Constantinian Auxiliary prepared and distributed food to the homeless in Chinatown and Two Bridges, New York on the Feast of St. Norbert of Xanten. Meeting at the Church of the Transfiguration (29 Mott St.), volunteers prepared 30 care packages replete with toiletries and ready to eat food, including containers of freshly cooked penne marinara generously donated by our dear friends at Caffé Napoli (191 Hestor Street) in Little Italy.

Once again, we want to thank Antonio, Anna and Konstantinos Mavrianos-Cesare of the St. Rocco Society for their hard work and dedication. You are an inspiration to us all. Thank you Louis Fontana of Caffé Napoli; Raymond Guarini of the Italian Enclaves Historical Society; Dama Rosanna Minervini; and Cav. John Napoli for your continued assistance. Your heartfelt generosity and selflessness is greatly appreciated. And as always, special thanks to Pastor Lo for your support and blessings.
