Thematically fitting for New Year’s Day, we’re taking this opportunity to reflect on the anonymous late fourteenth-century romance poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. A masterpiece of Middle English poetry, it is a must-read for anyone interested in chivalry, medieval romance, and the Matter of Britain, particularly the Arthurian legends.
