Christus Resurrexit, Alleluia! Faith, Family and Our Time-Honored Easter Traditions

Beautifully decorated High Altar with Risen Christ
After a solemn and beautiful Traditional Latin High Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church in Gowanus, Brooklyn, and a visit to the cemetery, I had my first taste of meat, eggs and dairy in 46 days. Holding me over for dinner, I finally broke my fast with an insanely delicious frittata from my friend Maria for elevenses.
Thank you Maria for the insanely delicious frittata!
The ladies outdid themselves again for dinner with another lavish multi-course meal, culminating with perfectly grilled lamb chops (agnello alla scottadito). Alas, after the antipasti I lost all interest in taking pictures and enjoyed the food, wine, and company unfettered.

After dinner, we played a few games of chess and exchanged our Easter baskets—I was blown away by the thoughtful gifts I received.

In addition to colorful eggs and artisanal chocolates, my basket had fantastic additions to my coin and stamp collections.

Heartfelt thanks to my friend Raymond, who surprised me with a beautiful handmade miniature presepio. I love it and can't wait to put it out next Christmas.
