San Gennaro, ora pro nobis |
Following the delayed miracle of the triannual liquefaction of the blood of San Gennaro on May 2nd (it’s suppose to liquify on the first Saturday of May, which was May 1st this year) and the cancelled emergency meeting called by the Archdiocese of New York on May 4th to discuss the future of Most Precious Blood Church, the National Shrine of San Gennaro in New York’s Little Italy, members of the Fratelli della Santa Fede decided to start another "Crusade of Prayer" for the rejection of heresies within the church and in reparation for insults and blasphemies against Our Lord Jesus Christ. Starting today—Wednesday, May 5th—we began fasting with partial abstinence, meaning one full meal per day (meat permitted), except Sundays, solemnities and, of course, Fridays, which are days of complete abstinence (no meat). Praying for the Holy Father's intentions, we will add at least one additional decade of the Holy Rosary and perpetual novena to San Gennaro to our daily prayers until May 23rd, the Feast of Pentecost. Please consider joining us in this spiritual endeavor.Prayer to San Gennaro
O San Gennaro, Valiant athlete of Jesus Christ and patron saint of Naples, we have recourse to your powerful intercession, especially during times of disaster! With grateful hearts we acknowledge your constant readiness to help your fellow citizens and those devoted to you in times of need. With the assurance of being heard, we implore you to obtain God’s mercy to us. Protect us from the scourge of spreading disbelief. Free us from evils and dangers that threaten us from every side. May the faith for which you sacrificed your life produce in our midst, through your prayers, the good works which the Lord our God can rightfully expect from His servants. Amen.
