Celebrating the Feast of Sant’Atanasio il Grande in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn

The relic of St. Athanasius in a glass case by the chancel
Unable to get out of work in time for Tuesday night's Mass for the Feast of Sant’Atanasio il Grande (Saint Athanasius the Great) at Saint Athanasius Church in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, I did at least have the opportunity to venerate the Saint’s relic.

As an additional consolation, I also had the good fortune to participate in the 13 Tuesdays Novena to Sant’Antonio da Padova with the St. Anthony of Padua Prayer Group and Msgr. David Cassato.

Afterward, I stopped by Saint A’s gymnasium to say hello to our friends from the Associazione Culturale Pugliese Figli Maria SS. Addolorata, who were busy celebrating the Feast with fellow parishioners. Sadly I couldn’t stay for the amazing buffet dinner and festivities, but I was glad to see everyone having a fantastic time. Evviva Sant’Atanasio!
