January 14 is the Feast of the Infant Jesus of Prague (Gesù Bambino di Praga), a celebration of the mystery of the Incarnation of Our Lord. Representing Christ’s kingship over the world, the Little King is portrayed with an ornate crown, flowing royal raiment and a globe topped with a cross in His left hand. Symbolizing the salvation He brings us, the children of God, the Christ Child’s right hand is raised in blessing, with three fingers held heavenward to denote the unity of the Trinity and the other two fingers bent to reflect Christ’s divine and human nature. In celebration, we’re posting a prayer to the Infant Jesus of Prague. Pictured, is a private shrine dedicated to Our Lord’s most holy infancy. Infant Jesus of Prague, have mercy on us.
Prayer to Infant Jesus of Prague
O Infant Jesus, I form the belief that I shall be granted forgiveness of sins and place it into the hands of Your most Holy Mother Mary; I commend myself to all and every Holy Mass that is celebrated this day and all over the globe, and I offer all this on behalf of the poor Souls in Purgatory. Amen

Dómine Jesu Christe, qui Mariæ et Joseph súbditus, domésticam vitam ineffabílibus virtútibus consecrásti: fac nos, utriúsque auxílio, Famíliæ sanctæ tuæ exémplis ínstrui; et consórtium cónsequi sempitérnum: Qui vivas.1As much as I try to ignore the real-life Idiocracy 2 coming to fruition around us, having to commute regularly into Manhattan and not living in a bunker unfortunately keeps me abreast with some of the city’s more inane cultural fads and fashion trends (e.g. the Santa Crawl). On my way to church Sunday morning, a handful of trouserless straphangers quickly alerted me that No Pants Subway Ride is still a thing in NYC. Thankfully, except for a couple of pale pimply bums, I didn’t see anything too gross.

Saint Genevieve, you who by the days before, penance and prayer, ensured the protection of Paris, intercede near God for us, for our country, for the devoted Christian hearts. You who cured the sick and fed the hungry, obtain the light of God and make us stronger to reject temptation. You who had the concern of the poor, protect the sick, the abandoned, and the unemployed. You who resisted the armies and encouraged the besieged, give us the direction for truth and justice. You who through the centuries never ceased taking care of your people, help us to keep the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. May your example be for us, an encouragement to always seek God and serve him through our brothers and sisters. Amen. ~ Prayer to St. Genevieve

Il Regno is not a formal membership organization. We are a circle of like-minded individuals based in Brooklyn, New York, who volunteer our time and efforts to preserve and promote our Duosiciliano (Southern Italian) heritage, culture and faith. The title of our journal is an allusion to the former Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, which was often simply referred to as il Regno, or the Kingdom. We are Catholic, Monarchist and support the Neobourbon cause. Viva Cristo Re!
