The highly anticipated exhibit, The Art of Immigration: Paintings by Donatus Buongiorno, kicked off Thursday evening at the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral Rectory Gallery (263 Mulberry St.) in Nolita, New York City. Featuring a nice selection of paintings from the artist's estate, a looped slideshow will show many of his other works not on display, including the murals at the nearby Shrine Church of the Most Precious Blood (113 Baxter St.). On view to May 11, 2019, the space is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 1pm-4pm (except April 20) with several talks scheduled throughout its running (see below). The show is a nice introduction to this little known painter from Solofra, Avellino.
