Divine Liturgy was offered Sunday afternoon at the Church of the Virgin Mary (216 8th Ave.) in Park Slope, Brooklyn for the eternal memory in blessed repose of HRH Princess Maria del Carmen Carolina Antonia di Borbone – Due Sicilie (1924-2018), who fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 94. Serving the Melkite Catholic community of New York City, Mass was concelebrated at the beautiful church in English and Arabic by Pastor Fr. Antoine, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Economos Romanus V. Russo, and Deacon Naji Youssef. Cavalieri John Napoli and Vincent Gangone were in attendance.

Warmly welcomed by the congregation, the Knights and Auxiliary were invited to join them for their Sunday social gathering in the church basement. Guests enjoyed fellowship, coffee and some lite refreshments, including a delicious wheat berry and pomegranate dessert reminiscent of Sicilian cuccia.

Thanks to Msgr. Russo, we also had the joyous opportunity to venerate the relic of the True Cross.

Before leaving, the Knights took the opportunity to explore the church, admire its many religious and artistic treasures, and offer prayers of thanks and praise. IHSV
