Ponderable Quotes

"It is proof of a base and low mind for one to wish to think with the masses or majority, merely because the majority is the majority. Truth does not change because it is, or is not, believed by a majority of the people."
– Giordano Bruno, Shadows of ideas

"The secret of the greatest fruitfulness and the greatest enjoyment of life is: to live dangerously! Build your cities under Vesuvius!"
– Friedrich Nietzsche, The Gay Science

"Men first feel necessity, then look for utility, next attend to comfort, still later amuse themselves with pleasure, thence grow dissolute in luxury, and finally go mad and waste their substance."
– Giambattista Vico, New Science

"For the authentic revolutionary conservative, what really counts is to be faithful not to past forms and institutions, but rather to principles of which such forms and institutions have been particular expressions, adequate for a specific period of time and in a specific geographical area."
– Julius Evola, Men Among the Ruins

"Faced as we are with this destiny, there is only one world-outlook that is worthy of us, that which has already been mentioned as the Choice of Achilles — better a short life, full of deeds and glory, than a long life without content. Already the danger is so great, for every individual, every class, every nation, that to cherish any illusion whatever is deplorable. The march of time cannot be halted; there is no question of prudent retreat or clever renunciation. Only dreamers believe there is a way out. Optimism is cowardice.
“We are born into this time and must bravely follow the path to the destined end. There is no other way. Our duty is to hold on…without hope, without rescue, like that Roman soldier whose bones were found in front of a door in Pompeii, who, during the eruption of Vesuvius, died at his post because they forgot to relieve him. That is greatness. That is what it means to be a thoroughbred. The honorable end is the one thing that can not be taken from a man.”
– Oswald Spengler, Man and Technics

Il Regno is not a formal membership organization. We are a circle of like-minded individuals based in Brooklyn, New York, who volunteer our time and efforts to preserve and promote our Duesiciliani (southern Italian) heritage, culture and faith.

Il Regno is an allusion to the former Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and as the title of our journal implies—to say nothing of the use of the coat of arms of the Royal House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies on our masthead—we are Catholic, Monarchist and sympathetic to the neo-Bourbon cause. Viva 'o Rre!
