Greetings from the Gates of Hell

A friend recently sent me a photograph of Auguste Rodin’s The Gates of Hell at the Musée Rodin in Paris. While celebrating her birthday abroad, knowing how much I admire Rodin, she paused and sent it to me with the simple message, “Wish you were here.”

For a brief moment, I wondered whether she meant Paris or the Gates of Hell.
