It has recently been brought to our attention that a gilded bronze portrait bust of "James Edward Pope" by Sicilian-American sculptor Pietro Montana is currently up for sale by Renaissance Man Antiques at We thought it would be of interest to some of our readers.

"James Edward Pope"
Very Fine Gilded Bronze Bust by Pietro Montana (1892-1978)

Beautifully crafted in gilded bronze, this extraordinarily handsome portrait of a young man, 15 years of age, was sculpted by Pietro Montana in 1932. Complete with its original base indicating the name and age of the sculptor's subject, this piece virtually glows with the confidence and beauty of youth. Montana won a gold medal from the National Academy of Design, contributed to Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and sculpted a number of monuments, including the sensuous "Dawn of Glory" war memorial (1924) in Brooklyn.
